131. புலவி

1. Feign sulk, embrace him not so that
We can see his distress a bit.

புல்லாது இராஅப் புலத்தை அவர்உறும்
அல்லல்நோய் காண்கம் சிறிது. 1301

2. Sulking is the salt of love; but
Too much of it spoils the taste.

உப்பமைந் தற்றால் புலவி அதுசிறிது
மிக்கற்றால் நீள விடல். 1302

3. To leave the sulker unembraced
Is to grieve the one sorely grieved.

அலந்தாரை அல்லல்நோய் செய்தற்றால் தம்மைப்
புலந்தாரைப் புல்லா விடல். 1303

4. To comfort not lady in pout
Is to cut the fading plant at root.

ஊடி யவரை உணராமை வாடிய
வள்ளி முதலரிந் தற்று. 1304

5. Pouting of flower-eyed has
To pure good mates a lovely grace.

நலத்தகை நல்லவர்க்கு ஏஎர் புலத்தகை
பூஅன்ன கண்ணா ரகத்து. 1305

6. Love devoid of frowns and pets
Misses its ripe and unripe fruits.

துனியும் புலவியும் இல்லாயின் காமம்
கனியும் கருக்காயும் அற்று. 1306

7. "Will union take place soon or late?"
In lover's pout this leaves a doubt.
ஊடலின் உண்டாங்கோர் துன்பம் புணர்வது
நீடுவது தன்றுகொல் என்று. 1307

8. What's the good of grieving lament
When concious lover is not present?

நோதல் எவன்மற்று நொந்தாரென்று அஃதறியும்
காதலர் இல்லா வழி. 1308

9. Water delights in a shady grove
And sulking in souls of psychic love.

நீரும் நிழலது இனிதே புலவியும்
வீழுநர் கண்ணே இனிது. 1309

10. My heart athirst would still unite
With her who me in sulking left!

ஊடல் உணங்க விடுவாரோடு என்நெஞ்சம்
கூடுவேம் என்பது அவா. 1310
